About Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Centre

Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Centre was established in 1952, by Shri Rameshwardas Birla, the founder, and chairman of the Bombay Hospital Trust. It began as a 440-bed hospital intended, in the words of its founder, "provide the same level of services to the poor as the rich receive in high-priced hospitals."

Today, the hospital provides 830 beds, offers some of the most advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment in the country, and a comprehensive range of specialized medical services. An internationally renowned panel of doctors and consultants in every field of expertise has state-of-the-art equipment. Supported by well-trained and professional nursing staff. The goal, however, remains unchanged. This is why 33% of the treated patients are in the general ward and pay only for their medicines and consumables. The free OPD at the hospital successfully treats more than 1,00,000 patients every year. No wonder then that Bombay Hospital attracts patients from all walks of life. Be it a factory worker in rural India, a high-flying executive of a multinational company, or the likes of a former Prime Minister and Governor of Maharashtra.
